Format A6 has been defined in the international standard ISO 216. The Polish standard of paper sheets PN-EN ISO 216:2009 is in accordance with the international standard ISO 216. A6 sheet format is one of the less popular compared to the formats A1 , A2 , A3 and A4 . The A6 template is most often used to make printouts information cards, brochures or letters. It is also a popular notebook format, and a format for printouts of photographic photos used in for making home printouts.
Format A series has a ratio of the shorter side to the longer side is always like 1 to √2 (i.e. as the side of a square to its diagonal), albeit rounded to Full Millimeters . The adopted ratio of the length of the sides means that after folding the sheet in half with the shorter sides to each other, two sheets of the same aspect ratio of the sides, like the output sheet. The output sizes of A0 format are so selected so that its area is 1 m². Subsequent formats in this series are created by dividing sheets into half of their long side. Hence the format A1 is half A0 , A2 Half A1 etc., but always rounded to the nearest millimetre.
