Format A2 The format is defined in the international standard ISO 216. In Poland, the PN-EN ISO 216:2009 paper sheet standard is in accordance with the international standard ISO 216. Format A2 is a less popular dimension than A3 and A4 . This dimension is most often used to make professional printouts or plots and is practically not used to make home printouts. For example, advertising posters are printed in this format.
In format A, the ratio of the shorter side to the longer side is always like 1 to √2 (i.e. like the side of a square to its diagonal), albeit rounded to full Millimeters . Such a ratio of the length of the sides results in the fact that after folding the sheet in half with the shorter sides to each other, two sheets are obtained, with the same proportion of sides as the original sheet. The sizes of the A0 format are selected so that its area is 1 m². Subsequent formats in this series are created by dividing sheets halfway down their long side. Hence the format A1 is half A0 and the format A2 half of A1, etc., but always rounded to the nearest millimetre.

Format A2
The A2 format is not as popular a paper format as A4 and A3. It is one of the predefined formats for editing all office suites such as Libre Office 6, OpenOffice 4.18 or MS Office. These packages also allow you to print up to A2 dimensions in PDF format without any changes to the settings. In home applications, this format is practically non-existent. It is used by design and geodetic offices to prepare design documentation or map studies. Due to their size, most office equipment is not able to handle work related to scanning or printing, so most printouts made in this format are entrusted to specialized printing companies.
Printouts in this format are mainly used to complete project documentation, technical drawings or print geodetic maps in scales of 1:500, 1:1000 or 1:2000, especially for larger areas, the printing of which in smaller A4 and A3 formats would be economically unprofitable or introduce unnecessary complications of project documentation. The main advantage is the print area that can cover this format.
