A1 format | A1 print | A1 sheet | A1 size | A1 print | A1 dimension
A1 Page, A1 Page, A1 Print, A1 Print, and A1 Paper are the standard paper sheet size defined in the international standard ISO 216. The dimensions of an A1 sheet are 594 x 841 mm or 59.4 x 84.1 cm or 23.39" x 33.11". The A1 format is less common than the popular A3 and A4. It is most often used to make professional printouts and plots, less often to make home printouts.
The dimensions of the A1 format are fixed in the ratio of the shorter side to the longer side, always as 1 to √2 (i.e. as the side of the square to its diagonal), rounded to the nearest millimetre. This ratio of the length of the sides results in the fact that when the sheet is folded in half with the shorter sides to each other, two sheets with the same proportion of sides as the original sheet are obtained. The surface area of an A1 paper sheet is 0.50 [m]² or 500 [cm]².
The A1 format is predefined in office suites such as Libre Office, OpenOffice or MS Office, as well as in ActCAD software, enabling printing directly to the printing device. However, due to their size, most office equipment is not able to handle printouts related to scanning or printing in this format, so most printouts made in this format are entrusted to specialized printing companies. The ActCAD software has implemented print settings for of this format. Printing is possible directly from the program to the device printing system, or via any PDF printer installed in the operating system, for example ActCAD PDF Printer to a file in the format PDF.
A1 requires print settings adapted to the dimensions of the sheet, which depend on the print quality. When printing in 300 DPI quality, the dimensions of a sheet in A1 format are 7,016 x 9,933 px, in 150 DPI quality - 3,368 x 4,768 px, and in 72 DPI quality - 1,684 x 2,384. Printing is possible directly from the program to the device printing or via a PDF file. In addition, there are specialized programs for preparing projects that allow you to precisely match the content to the A1 format, so that its full potential can be used.
Printing in A1 format is used to complete project documentation, technical drawings or printing geodetic maps in scales of 1:500, 1:1000 or 1:2000 for larger areas, the printing of which in smaller A4 and A3 formats would be economically unprofitable or introduce unnecessary complications of project documentation.
