Dimension B4 | Format B4 | B4 Printout | B4 Paper | Sheet B4
B4 The format is defined in the international standard ISO 216. The Polish standard of paper sheets PN-EN ISO 216:2009 is in accordance with the international standard ISO 216. One of the most popular, if not the most popular, known format of this kind is the B4.
In format B, the dimensions of the formats are geometric mean of the two intermediate dimensions A (so their proportions are also like 1 to √ 2 ), e.g. the dimensions of sides B1 are the geometric mean of sides A1 and A0 , rounded to full millimeters [mm] . The described ratio of the length of the sides causes that after folding the sheet in half sides to each other, two sheets are obtained, with the same aspect ratio of the sides, like the output sheet. Subsequent formats in this series are created by dividing sheets into half of their long side. Hence the B1 format is half of B), B2 half B1 etc., but always rounded to the nearest millimetre.

It provides an additional format for editing all packages office buildings such as Libre Office, OpenOffice or MS Office. The aforementioned office suites enable printing up to B4 dimension in PDF file format without no setting changes. Also flatbed scanners and Scanning devices in most cases allow direct scanning up to B4 format. The same applies to photocopiers and fax machines.
B4 printout is rarely used to complete project documentation, drawings
technical or printing geodetic maps in scales of 1:500, 1:1000 or
1:2000.
