Web design for free
Today I will talk about a topic loosely related to ActCAD software. Nowadays, every company needs a website.
A company website on the World Wide Web has multiple functions:
- is a presentation of the company.
- is a presentation of products
- sales page
- a tool for contacting customers
- Product updates page
- support page
and many other functions not mentioned in the above list.
It is really difficult to find solutions that are universal and intuitive at the same time. In general, these are solutions dedicated to specific purposes. An old proverb says that if something is good for everything, it is good for nothing. I used to think so myself until I found and tested a product called Microweber.
I like solutions that I can figure out myself, because if I don't understand the principle of operation, what guarantee do I have that the person I entrust with doing something will do the job correctly.
There are certain assumptions that, in my opinion, must always be included in order for the product to meet my expectations.
These are: interface localization (or ease of interface localization), interface readability, easily configurable plugins or functions, work stability, support at least at a benevolent level, and ease of portability and configuration.
I started my adventure with Wordpress. The first version of the site had good performance, a set of useful plugins. At first, it worked contactless. However, over time, the plugins stopped getting along with each other after their subsequent updates. So I stopped grasping it myself and outsourced the work to internet guru magicians. A thought began to dawn in my head that this could not go on. I started searching on the Internet, I read reviews on various forums. The Internet directed me in various opposite directions. After some time, I came across information about the Laravel framework. The information obtained allowed me to reach several products based on Laravel solutions. With the help of the developers of individual products, I installed and tested their products based on this framework in its various versions.
That's how I came across Microweber 1.1. based on Laravel 5.4.
And I decided that this is the product for me.
Stable, easy to configure, with integrated modules: store, blog, seo, mailing, etc. The guys from Microweber, although busy, tried to help me with the configuration and fixed a few bugs (for which they apologized).
Microweber has a built-in website builder and provides free and paid templates. It also has a "suggest feature" option so that the most ranked proposals are implemented first.
With Microweber 1.1 I had a few problems, it also did not want to work on some hostings. however, I have never regretted switching from WordPress to Microweber. Using it, I was looking for an alternative for some time. Over the past two years, I've tested about 40 general-purpose CMS and more dedicated ones. Many of them had excellent functions, but most often they did not all of the above at once. Some solutions worked mega fast, others had a friendly customizable interface. However, most often, after a momentary infatuation, I returned to Microweber. Because what mattered to me was that it has many good features, not one outstanding one.
Maybe someone who needs a narrow CMS specialization would be happy with alternative solutions. However, in my opinion, only Microweber provided me with everything I wanted from a CMS. So I stayed with him despite his small shortcomings. And I waited patiently for the promised, new Microweber 1.2, which was to be based on Laravel 7.
And the guys from Microweber did not disappoint, they released their CMS based on Laravel 8.
The newer version of the engine removed many of the shortcomings in their product that bothered me.
Is Microweber an ideal product?
No, but it is a very good product, with a well-thought-out philosophy, intuitive, easy to administer, with a clear interface in Polish. In my opinion, it is very close to the ideal.
So, if you are looking for software for your store, website or blog, it is worth at least testing it. Perhaps this is the product for you that you will simply fall in love with. How the old one works
